TURBT (Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumour)
The main procedure used to assist with diagnosis and treatment of bladder tumours.
During the telescopic examination of the bladder (cystoscopy), bladder tumours are ‘shaved’ or resected from the inside of the bladder wall with the aim of removing the entire tumour. New techniques, such as en-bloc resection, have become the gold standard technique to remove non invasive tumours. This will ensure that the tumour is removed without any spillage of cancerous cells.
