Consultant Urological Surgeon

Andrew grew up locally and graduated with honours from Sheffield in 2007 with an additional intercalated 1st class BMedSci (Hons) degree. Core surgical training followed in London including time as an Academic Clinical Fellow at Imperial College. Higher surgical training took place in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex region and in 2015 he was awarded the Keith Yeates gold medal for the outstanding performance in the FRCS (Urol) exam. Post-CCT he undertook a year-long fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia supported by an Ethicon Foundation Fund award and the Urology Foundation. He gained accreditation with the DaVinci Xi robotic surgical platform and had a fantastic year.

Andrew took up a Consultant post at Frimley Health Foundation Trust in March 2018 with a remit to develop reconstructive urology and support the general urology service. He is part of the core urology MDT and manages patients with prostate, bladder and testicular cancer. His wide-ranging general training means he is comfortable managing all aspects of male and female urological problems including stones, urinary symptoms, infections and scrotal/penile problems (including paediatric foreskin issues).

At Frimley he has established a urethroplasty practice, introduced Optilume for urethral strictures and manages patients requiring reconstructive surgery to the urinary tract due to scarring or injury. He is an honorary consultant at St Richards Hospital, Chichester where he implants AUS and male slings to help patients with urinary incontinence after prostate cancer treatment.

Andrew has published and presented widely. In 2022 ‘Oncall in urology’ was released which he co-authored. He has written 4 textbook chapters and over 30 journal articles. He maintains a strong commitment to education and training, has held two anatomy demonstrator posts (Sheffield and London) and is the undergraduate lead at Frimley for Southampton medical students during their surgery attachment.

In his spare time Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and young family enjoying activities together including the Parkrun, swimming, golf, tennis, and travelling.
