NICE has now confirmed approval of water jet ablation treatment, used to treat BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia).
Coverage of the approval was in The Daily Mail too, having chosen to focus on men's health and all things prostate related during 2018.
As the options for treating BPH continue to widen for patients, we are delighted that our dedicated consultants are using their expertise to be at the forefront of these developments.
Neil Barber has been pioneering the way with Aquablation therapy and offering this therapy in NHS Trials at Frimley Park Hospital. The results are looking good as studies, presented to the leading Urological conferences, have shown. Neil is now recruiting patients for a 2nd trial at Frimley Park hospital to ensure this procedure proves its efficacy and enable this procedure to spread across the NHS.
Neil recently welcomed visiting Professor Mauro Dimitri from Rome, Italy to come and watch an Aquablation procedure in action. The patient had a prostate size of 110ml and went home the following day without a catheter
This article from The Daily Mail provides the patient story, as well as comments from Neil on the treatment outcomes.
