Booking and Appointment and Procedures

Urology Partners are available 365 days a year either through one of the consultants, practice nurses or secretaries.

Yes, we welcome all patients. Simply call or email the secretary for the consultant you wish to see and they will make an appointment for you. You can get these details from our Contact page. They will let you know fees for an initial consultation.

For any further procedures, diagnostics and consultations, the hospital will provide a quote prior to any treatment being agreed which will include hospital and surgeon fees.

All the hospitals we practice in offer disabled facilities, wheelchair access and access to interpreters - please inform us of any special needs when booking your appointment and the secretaries will assist you with all arrangements during your visit. There is drop off access outside the hospitals with additional free parking on site.

If you have private medical insurance, you need to get an appointment with your GP in order to request them to refer you. You will need to check with your insurers that our consultants are on the agreed provider list. Currently all of our consultants are approved with the major providers including BUPA, AXA PPP, WPA, Aviva, Simply Health, Prudential,Exeter Friendly, Cigna and Benenden.

Once your GP has referred you and we have received the referral, one of our secretaries will be in touch to book an appointment. You can also contact us prior to your GP letter being received if you wish to make an appointment sooner. Please make sure you have your insurance membership number and an authorisation code for the consultation. If any further appointments or procedures are booked, you will need to get an authorisation code for each one.

Our consultants are fully trained and accredited in the UK and are all recognized and registered with the major insurance companies. We pride ourselves on the quality and reputation of our specialist consultants who are each highly qualified experts in Urology. You can find out more about our consultants in the About page. Alternatively you can visit your usual GP and ask for their referral advice. Your GP may give you a referral letter or may send it direct to us.

Our consultants have clinics every day of the week at various locations. Our secretaries will do all they can to get you an appointment as soon as possible. Please see the Contact page for details.

The hospitals we practice in all offer a specialist paediatric nurse. For any children under the age of 3, a paediatric nurse will be present in the consultation. For children between the ages of 3 and 18, there will be a paediatric nurse on site but not present in the consultation unless requested.

For any operation that a child comes in for, they will also be looked after by a paediatric nurse during their time in the hospital.

When you arrive at the hospital, a member of the reception team will greet you and provide you with a registration form to check and complete, so it’s best to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. The reception team will direct you to the waiting area for your appointment, from where the consultant or urology practice nurse will come to collect you.



All appointments are booked for 20 minutes and there will usually be a Urology Practice Nurse present at the appointment as well.

The consultant may request further investigations to assist in a diagnosis. MRI Ultrasound, X-ray and blood tests will be arranged following your appointment if necessary. MRI and ultrasounds scans will be booked for another day and the department organising this will contact you direct to arrange this appointment.

If you have had previous scans or X-rays related to your condition, please bring these along to all your consultations. Please also bring any copies of letters from your GP or specialists.

We’ll also manage the paperwork for you, from correspondence with your GP or consultant during the referrals process, to making arrangements with hospitals if surgery is required, and processing claims for payment with medical insurance providers.

If a follow up consultation or further investigations are required the consultant will indicate this and will put you in contact with their secretaries to arrange. The consultant will then write to your GP and any other referring professionals who will be continuing your care. This will summarise your consultation and the planned investigations. A copy of this letter will be sent to you as well.

The consultant’s secretary will be in touch to arrange a follow up appointment. The consultant will discuss with you the results from your initial consultation and diagnostic investigations. He will recommend the most appropriate treatment for your condition which may be discharging you, referring you on to another health professional, booking you in for further treatment or further follow up in the future.

If surgery is indicated then the consultant will explain the whole procedure to you and what to expect afterwards.

If an operation is needed we will arrange this for you. Surgery will require admission to the hospital. All our consultants are able to operate within the hospital you have your consultation in. Your consultant’s secretary will book this for you and the hospital will confirm this booking along with instructions of when to stop eating and drinking, and when to arrive at the hospital.

All medical insurers usually cover these hospitals. It is however important to always check with your insurer regarding your proposed operation and cover for the hospital and all fees. We will assist you with any information that you require. If you are a self paying patient we will get a quote from the hospital which will be sent direct to you so you can decide on how you wish to proceed.

Prior to any operation, a pre assessment is required and the nurses who carry these out will contact you direct to book this in at your convenience.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please contact the secretary in order for us to offer that appointment time to another patient. We will endeavour to rearrange your appointment as soon as possible.

We reserve the right to charge for a cancellation less than 12 hours in advance.

Late arrival may result in your appointment being rescheduled for later in the day or another day.

Non-attendance for an appointment may be charged.

Please use the Contact page and contact the relevant secretary to make an appointment. If you are using health insurance you will need a referral letter from your GP. You will also need to contact your insurer to check your chosen consultant is on their lists for your policy.
